Art With Issues

Ahola!

A dear friend of mine, Hannah Gough is putting together a zine about veganism so OBVIOUSLY I'm contributing. Here is a snippet of my article on my utter confusion about vegans who use aversive techniques and tools on their dogs. Pack/dominance theory is redundant. Teach dogs, don't force them to do things physically or through intimidation and fear. Come on, people. The world isn't flat and dogs aren't trying to rule the world.

SPEAKING OF WHICH ;)

I just completed part 1 of a course in Canine Psychology and my dream to become a dog behaviourist is underway! If you'd like to help me fund parts 2 and 3 of this course (it's only £400, 4p would make a difference!) here is the link to my GoFundMe:

I know I say this all the time - but expect more regular posts again. I'm doing my own head in. See you soon!

Update October 2015 - Vikings and Wombles

Long time no see!

This is because working a real job leaves me no energy for drawing. Waaah. I do, however write and (sometimes) illustrate a blog over here. I have a couple of ongoing projects when it comes to art though, so I thought I'd update you on them :)

Project one is a "peek-a-boo" board for the pub I work at. It's very touristy with lots of history, so I'm mashing the history up and using Susan the horse from Doctor Who to explain why Vikings and Roundheads are hanging out at a ruined castle.

As you can see I have to paint. Which is confusing and not drawing. Paint drips, and needs mixing, and needs to dry. It's all very strange. Luckily I have had some help on it so far. It's pretty fun, but so exhausting I struggled to breather the other day. Chronic illness is stupid.

Project deux is a poster for Wimbledon Zine Fair this November 14th. This is so refreshing as it's familiar ground and true source of sanctuary when painting is confusing my head. I shall be exhibiting there with The Jellygoose Chronicles, my Bulimia zine and maybe even my Doctor Who Christmas cards. Jellygoose 2 might even be there if I find the time and energy to finish it! This pre-lisahavingthedamnenergytofinishherposter poster has the details about it :)

I shall endeavor to update this blog at least once a month for the foreseeable future. While i don't get much actual illustration done these days, I do draw things at work here and there.  Most of these are on my instagram if you're interested.

Hope you're all doing well. Come hang in Wimbledon! :D

Doodledills

Drew some daffodils during a quiet day at work and messed around on a mobile photo editor. They make nice backgrounds for things! :)

contemporary illustration.

"your tutors have a responsibility to educate you properly, and if they're making you reference nothing but contemporary illustration, they are failing massively. it's your degree, you should demand more."

-david foldvari.

if your tutors do that, like mine, and it fustrates you, like it does me, have a read of this.
